PLAN YOUR PUMPKIN HUNT
Browse the participating downtown businesses and pick where you’d like to explore. Then head downtown on Halloween between 12–4 PM to start hunting!
FIND PUMPKINS & SCAN QR CODES
Visit participating businesses and keep an eye out for hidden pumpkins!
- Found one? Scan the QR code at that location. Each business has its own unique code, which records your find.
- When prompted, enter the email address and last name you registered with.
COLLECT ENTRIES & WIN PRIZES!
Each pumpkin you find earns an entry into the prize drawing. The more entries, the higher your chances of winning! Track your discoveries as you explore downtown for a chance to win passes to local museums.
Good news, parents: you don’t have to find every pumpkin.

How does the hunt work?
Register your family for free, pick the downtown businesses you want to visit, and head downtown on Halloween between 12–4 PM. Find the hidden pumpkins, scan each location’s QR code, and every find earns an entry into the prize drawing.
Does it cost anything to join?
No. Family registration is free, but you must register at greatpumpkinhunt.com/dba to participate.
Do I have to register ahead of time?
Yes. Registration is required before the event at greatpumpkinhunt.com/dba.
When and where is the hunt?
Saturday, October 31, 2026, 12–4 PM, in downtown Wilmington, NC.
Do we need to find every pumpkin?
No. Each pumpkin you find earns one entry, so more finds improve your chances, but you don’t need them all.
How do I check in at a pumpkin?
Scan the QR code at the business. Every location has its own code. When prompted, enter the email address and last name you registered with to log your find.
What do I need to bring?
A smartphone that can scan QR codes. Make sure your phone is fully charged!
I can’t log in after scanning. What should I do?
Use the same email address and last name you registered with. If you still need assistance, email caroline@bizcostudio.co. Email support.
How do entries and prizes work?
Each pumpkin you find earns one entry into the prize drawing. Prizes are passes to the Cape Fear Museum, Children’s Museum of Wilmington, and Wilmington Railroad Museum.
When are winners chosen and how will I be notified?
Winners will be chosen the following week and notified using the email address provided during registration.
Can all my kids share one registration?
Yes. One household registration covers the entire family; children do not need individual accounts.
Where do I see the participating businesses?

How does my business take part?
Select Register a Business and submit your details by October 23, 2026.
How will families check in at my business?
Once approved, your business receives a unique location QR code. Families scan it and enter the email address and last name they registered with.
Does a business appear immediately after registering?
No. Event administrators review applications to confirm the businesses are legitimate. Please allow 1–2 days before your business appears.
